Source: Waveland Independent Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana August 10, 1939

James B. McCLAIN, better known as "Buckie" from his middle name of Buchannan, died in Culver Hospital on Tuesday morning where he had been under treatment for 3 weeks. He has been in poor health for several months. Funeral services at Mt. Moriah Church, north of Hollandsburg at 10:30 this morning were in charge of Rev. Cornelius Airhart. The pall bearers were Harold Collings; Joseph McClain; Cassie McClain, Marshall Estus; Fern Sturgeon and John Gross. He was the son of Jesse and Nina McClain and was born Jan 13, 1873 on the farm where his life was spent. He never married but made his home with his sisters, Nora and Rena, who survive. He was sexton (for 30 years) in charge of Mt. Moriah Cemetery where he was buried. He worked at well drilling and similar occupations and was well liked. He was the last member to stay by the now defunct Odd Fellows Lodge of Waveland. He was one of the first in this section to own a bicycle and he remained faithful to his "wheel" up to the time of his last illness. He was faithful in whatever he undertook to do and he will be greatly missed. - transcribed by kbz
